Missionary Mindset
Hey everyone,
I wanted to hop on and give everyone an update on life right now. A few weeks ago I was talking with someone about how I easily trusted God when I felt like he was telling me to quit my job and move to Uganda and yet how hard it has been to begin fundraising. After three months and four fundraising events I was still only about 1/3 of the way to my yearly needs. I began praying that I would be reminded that it was not in my timing but in Gods timing. I was convicted that I was trying to control the situation instead of letting God provide for my needs. That Sunday after already beginning to see the error in my ways I heard just the right sermon for the situation. The pastor was calling everyone to live with a missionary mindset. In Luke 10:2-4 Jesus says “ The harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few. Therefore, pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest. Go your way; behold, I am sending you out as lambs in the midst of wolves. Carry no moneybag, no knapsack, no sandals, and greet no one on the road.” The pastor went on to talk about how before the missionary worries about the method or the actual work he begins with his purpose and trust. He trusts God for protection, provision and priorities all in prayer. It was a great reminder that God has brought me to this point and he will provide in his time. I continued to pray that God would refocus me on trusting his time and his purpose for me and it was amazing how I stopped worrying about the money and began to get excited for all to come again!
Well, I am excited to let you know that we are now about 2/3 of the way there and I still have three months left! I also was able to buy my airplane ticket, it was so great to have a date and again begin dreaming about getting to see all the kids and my friends at Restoration Gateway. One of the good things about lack of communication with RG is that I get to surprise the kids that I am coming and not leaving!!! I think they love having people come but its always hard when its time for them to leave and I am so excited to go and be there for ten months instead of ten days!
Thank you to all of you who have prayed over me and my move! Thank you to those of you who have supported me financially. One of the greatest things you can do for my ministry is share it with your friends and family.
