January Prayer Guide

I thought one thing we could do this year was to pray as a community. I will be posting the first of each month (or as close to the first as i can ;) ) with a prayer guide that our Spiritual Director has written for you to pray over In Community for the month. If you have any prayer requests please email me and we will include you in the prayer guide for the month. I love the idea that we are community supporting In Community and I want us to be praying for everyone not just me :) Okay January Prayer!

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you that you are the God who goes before us into this new year ahead - always moving us forward by your grace and in your strength. Thank you for the ways that you are moving Jessica forward in life and ministry for this coming year. Please continue extending your kingdom work through Jess’s faithful service to you in Uganda. Please be with her and give her your wisdom and strength as she prepares for her transition to Kampala in the days ahead. Prepare the hearts of the R.G staff and the children who’ve become so dear to her to receive the news of her move with grace and understanding.

Thank you that you have promised to supply all her needs according to your riches and glory when it comes to housing, finances, new connections in ministry, a new church home, and the blessings of using her gifts in new and expanding ways in the schools and churches of her new community. Thank you for using this past year to grow her faith and her dependence upon You, Father. Continue to hold her close in this new year and these new opportunities for sharing your gospel with all those you bring into her life as she transitions to life and service to the people of Kampala. Thank you for keeping her safe and healthy, and for your constant presence and guidance in her life. Oh Father, continue to encourage Jess’s heart during times of struggle and disappointment. Guard her against the evil one, his works and effects. Keep her eyes always focused on You and help her to order each day in a way that reflects Your heart, and Your priorities for her life. Keep her grounded in Your Word daily. Help her to walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time. May her speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt in a way that transcends cultural barriers so that she will know how she should answer each person she encounters- and so that people can’t help but see Jesus’s love shining through her.

Lord, we are so grateful to be a part of Jess’s life and ministry from over here. Keep us steadfast in prayer - always watching eagerly for what you will do and how you will answer our prayers with thankful expectation when it comes to your promises and your faithfulness to your children. Thank you that you are a relational God and for the ways you have demonstrated that through blessing and growing Jess’s relationship with You and with others this past year as she’s poured out her heart and life in the ministry you’ve called her to.

And now, Faithful Father, we ask that you would continue to bless her and cause her to be a blessing in Kampala. We pray that whatever Jess does, in word or in deed, she would work heartily as unto you and not for the approval of others, and may she do everything in the name of our Lord Jesus, giving thanks to You always through Him. To this end we always pray for Jessica, that you may make her worthy of your calling and may fulfill every resolve for good and every work of faith by your power so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified!

In Jesus’ name we fervently pray all these things, trusting you- our Great God- to do great things, Amen.
